Watching ABC’s Earth 2100 docu-drama tonight. Scary stuff!

When I was little I watched a similar story on German TV. They interviewed top scientists from lots of different places to give their views on the next 20 years. And guess what… it all came true. Yet nobody cared or did anything about it. More flooding, less drinking water, more droughts. More people, less space, more waste… . The only thing that changed over the last twenty years was that science told us the same truth but more urgently, while politicians met every few years to debate the issues raised.

We now had nearly 30 years to change (probably more but since I’m only 32…), and while we still refuse to notice our world keeps turning, slowly shedding its inhabitants like an undesired pest.

We are the proverbial frog in the pot – slowly cooking ourselves to extinction!
