Realizer Racing Training at Oschersleben

Mazda MX5 at Oschersleben Thanks to the Realizer Racing and Rotary Motorsport teams for a great day out at the Oschersleben’s race track. Since I never filmed motorsport events before, it was a practice day for me too. All things considered it went pretty well, apart from shutter speed settings and white balancing issues because the day was extremely bright, with clear blue skies and little contrast. The track was flooded with very bright light but the pit lane and box were in the shadows. Alternating between the two made hard work.

Also, capturing fast driving cars was a new one and not setting the right shutter speed (somewhere around 1/500) resulted in a lot of motion blur. Together with the extreme lighting conditions, I sure learned something new. Coming from filming indoors with controlled conditions and a proper shooting schedule, this event couldn’t have been more different! Next time I will be better prepared and capture the action in the best possible way.

Stay tuned for a little teaser coming up shortly, thanks to Christian Jackschath of cj_design who is handling all things post!

PS: I’ve also added new links to my del.icio.us bookmarks for the official RR Race Babes site and drivers. Enjoy.
