The outdoor “sight-seeing” day was a bit too short and the weather wasn’t on our side either, so we didn’t really get the images I was after. On the whole it was a good day though and I’m happy not having brought my big shoulder cam but the small Canon instead! Running around London with the “baby” one was hard enough on my own. I really ought to have someone with me when I go out and shoot more of Kellie in the coming weeks and months.

I’ve put some stills I took with the photo function of the Canon and put them on flickr.com for now. Finished viewing the rushes now and working out the EDL. More stills and a teaser should be with you soon! Check out Kellie’s news post on her site for more info and photos.

In other news, Chris is currently busy working on his projects and there’s not been as much time to work on our ice hockey documentary as we would have liked. Time’s always too short! A week feels like a minute these days. Still waiting on Let’s Get Lost to let me know what’s new and I have yet to complete the clip for them too. It’s 50% done now. Their tracks sound awesome though, give them a listen at their MySpace page. There’s some interesting stuff happening with the racebabes team and some new projects coming out of it (I hope).

I think I either need to find more time from somewhere or someone who can help me edit the material I’ve shot so far! So if you want to get your hands dirty working on some cool projects, get in touch

Racebabes suffered a bit of a delay but we’ll go ahead anyway and get the new webby up and running, as well as shoot more video and go racing! More soon. Meanwhile show your support by adding them to your MySpace friends.

Christian actually got that huge video rough-cut of the ice hockey project uploaded to the server (some people just aren’t as blessed with large pipes than others) and it looks amazing. We are still trying to get interview dates set-up so we can show you something a little more wholesome than “just a game”. Although I’m beginning to think I will cut this project even further in parts and start releasing bits for you to enjoy right away.

Let’s Get Lost (Band) are waiting for things to happen, I’m waiting to get to work my way through the back-log editing their stuff and their new website is waiting for the designer to start cracking. Meanwhile check out their MySpace profile and wait in anticipation to their new tracks, which Christoph (my cousin) is currently mastering.

On a side note, I would like to big-up Vincent Wong Yoon Wei and his new film noir project entitled “Black” (more stills and discussion) about a detective’s worst nightmares come true (best success with the festivals mate!) and Jeff Stone and Vern Moen of the excellently entertaining Winnebago experience, about their antics living a hobo life as film producers on the road (in sunny California).

“Things we do for free beer”
Holgee (Holger Oppermann) at the local pub/club in Hannover some time in late 2006. It was a fun night (if my soaked memory serves me right – but then I did get pretty much slaughtered! I will spare you the details…). What more can you want from life than listening to your favorite tracks at eardrum bursting volume, drink gallons of free beer… with your best mates?

The next one is actually pretty exclusive, since it was taken at a “warm up” to a weekend nights partying with Holgee, Andy (aka DJ Flokatier) and my good self. You must check out Andy’s flat, it’s a all 70′s retro but done properly! The guy has style I promise more photographic evidence next time I’m over at his den.

“Let’s Get Lost” bestehen aus Andres Dieterich (Gesang, Gitarre), Frederic Sambale (Bass, Gesang), Ruben Kauffmann (Gitarre) und
Jan Wolter (Schlagzeug). Mein cousin Christoph hat vor ein paar Jahren mitgespielt, als sie sich noch “Untow” nannten und einen harten Punk spielten. Nun sind sie alle etwas älter und vielleicht weicher geworden. Am besten einordnen kann sie warscheinlich beim US College oder High School Rock. Immernoch etwas Punkig aber halt nicht mehr ganz so hart, sogar eine Ballade ist beim neuen Album dabei mit dem sie sich nun Vorstellen wollen.

Um diesen “Neuauftritt” besser zu gestallten werde ich ihnen helfen eine eigene Website umzusetzen und sich im Internet zu präsentieren. Die Produktion wird erstmal ein paar Monate dauern, und die ersten Ausschnitte werde ich sehr bald hier und auf der neuen Webseite vorstellen. Man darf gespannt sein. In der Zwischenzeit könnt ihr euch das mySpace und MyOwnMusic Profil anschauen. Viel Spass.

To help with the latter, I’m also enabling them to easily publish their stuff online with a wholesome new website and gather an audience through the web’s viral nature. Für schnell fahrende Autos würde ich eine Verschlusszeit von 1/500 empfehlen, obwohl ich das erst beim nächsten Training wirklich nochmal genau austesten werden kann. Wenn man zwischen zwei sehr unterschiedlichen Locations wechselt kann ich nur sagen das man mit zwei Kamera’s arbeiten sollte: Eine drinnen und eine draussen. Also werde ich in Zukunft die kleine Kamera in der Box fest aufstellen und wenn ich mit der grossen von draussen nach drinnen gehe einen harten Schnitt machen (mit dem Material der kleinen als Zwischenschnitt). Die Empfehlung kam im übrigen auch von meinem Cousin Christoph bei dem ich mich für seine Tipps und Hilfe ebenfalls bedanken möchte an dieser Stelle.

Also, capturing fast driving cars was a new one and not setting the right shutter speed (somewhere around 1/500) resulted in a lot of motion blur. Together with the extreme lighting conditions, I sure learned something new. Coming from filming indoors with controlled conditions and a proper shooting schedule, this event couldn’t have been more different! Next time I will be better prepared and capture the action in the best possible way.
