Brief

My brief was simply to create a professional looking website based on the existing visual identity and make sure the content was optimised for search engines. The new website is also available as a mobile version and optimised for iOS devices such as iPhone, iPads and Android tablets and phones.

Knight Security are a leading security company, established since 1992, providing manned guarding, key holding and alarm response services as well as mobile patrols to businesses in Derby and surrounding area.

Mighty Mouse Website

When DJ and disco-producer duo Mighty Mouse asked me to design their new web site to coincide with the promotion of their new hit album “Song With No Word“, I couldn’t help but be excited!

As with many things in the fast-moving music industry, there was little time from design to completed website and I managed to turn around all aspects, including SEO and writing each page by hand, in just 24 hours!

Work carried out: Design new website to match album look-and-feel. Improve search engine visibility (SEO). Update all associated social networking profiles to match new look. Set-up web-hosting and optimise code.
Techniques used: HTML5, CSS3 and JQuery to animate (rotate) the quotes on the homepage. All pages are static and written by hand using a text editor. Graphics designed using Photoshop and Illustrator. All graphics are a single large sprite and all HTML, CSS and JS is compressed and delivered gzipped. Combined all RSS newsfeeds into one using feedmingle.com and Google’s Feedburner.

Specialised Homes is a property developer of luxurious, high-end homes in Surrey, specialising in providing a true full-service to their clients.

The task was to create a new website to help promote the comprehensive range services offered and generate new sales enquiries for their business. Following the recently redeveloped brand identity, I designed an easy to use yet sophisticated looking website.

The website is optimised for a specific range of matching keyword phrases to make sure the correct pages are displayed for people looking for not only their core services but also secondary and tertiary.

Text is kept concise and is written to not only capture visiting Search Engines but help human visitors find the right information while skimming through the pages.

Output reached an all time high in 2007, although right now the sector is suffering from the downturn. To take the temperature of industry in the UK we went to the midland town of Derby, which hosts a surprising range of companies producing goods for both domestic and export markets.

Although not technically a “gig” it turned out to be a nice little jam and an opportunity for him to show us that he can perform in every condition.
